Muhammad Obaid founded Emkaan in Dubai in 2009. Trained in Architectural Engineering at Tanta University in Egypt, his early career focused on historic conservation and urban culture.
His practice now spans architecture, urban planning, and interior design, recognised internationally with the Supreme Council of Culture award for The Farm at Al Barari and the Best Residential Project of the Year for Villa Tresor. His design language is rooted in Biomorphic architecture — organic forms shaped by climate, light, and the senses.
Maha Khalil graduated from the American University of Sharjah, with a focus on culture, history, research, and architectural criticism. At Emkaan she holds a distinctive role — the studio's in-house critic — testing every project against the standards the work holds itself to, and the broader conversation of contemporary architecture.
